Studio Y produces powerful experiences of alignment

We design experiences that engage people’s bodies and minds together. These range from simple to elaborate, depending on the shape of your challenge.

  • Conversations—an hour or three spent to create a useful, typically visual mental model that can frame meaningful space for problem solving and exploration.

  • Workshops—one- or two-day structured, information-rich experiences that build ongoing alignment. We feed these with original research and with synthesis of existing information as needed.

  • Expeditions—multi-day “get up and get out” experiences that expose teams to voices, sights and sounds in order to re-frame their thinking and to form stronger bonds with one another.

  • Immersions—typically longer-term efforts to create physical and digital places where insights, ideas, and alternative futures can form the backdrop to conversations that engage stakeholders

  • Coaching—extended relationships with teams to help them stay on track and continuously refine the structures they will need to get and stay aligned.

While every engagement is different, some bedrock principles apply:

Content-rich. Unlike conventional “facilitation,” we get involved in content, not just form. We tailor the design of each experience to yield specific insights and frameworks that can be used going forward.

Productive. Experiences are documented and synthesized in a way that makes the energy and content easy to transmit to people who could not participate.

Inclusive. Via research and selection of in-the-field venues, we strive to put the views of diverse, often silent, stakeholders into the conversation.

Appreciative. The best ideas are not always found on the team that seeks to create them. We work to incorporate stories of struggle and success from the front lines.

Efficient. Simple contracts. Quick meetings with clear agendas. A bias toward action.

Joyful. While it can be hard work too, we never forget that creative process is a privilege and a gift.
